Help At Home Skilled is a large home health company with 20 offices in the state of Indiana. We are seeking a Registered Nurse Area Nursing Manager to oversee the operations of the Logansport, Rensselaer and Schererville offices. This is a full-time administrative position with a competitive salary and full benefits. This position requires travel.

 POSITION TITLE:  Area Nursing Manager
 REPORTS TO:    Administrator


● To assist Administrator to help plan, develop and direct the programs, services activities and employees of the Agency as requested.

● To assist Administrator to assure customer needs are met through the efficient and effective use of leadership and management of department resources.

● To supervise, coach and mentor team members to enable them in the provision quality, cost-effective patient care in relation to agency policies and objectives through planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of services, including monitoring staffing requirements needed to meet these objectives.

● To ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations as directed by Administrator.

● To promote staff retention.


● Assists Administrator as requested to organize, plan and direct the Agency’s programs, services and ongoing functions.

● Maintain ongoing liaison among the Board of Directors and Agency staff in the absence of Administrator or as requested.

● Oversee the Agency in the Administrator’s absence.

● Oversee the Supervising Nurse and Alternate to supervise and direct nursing and other therapeutic home care services as requested and/or in the absence of the Administrator.

● Participates on the Professional Advisory Board and acts as Chairperson as requested.

● Ensure that the Agency’s mission and values statement, strategic plan and vision, goals and expectations are implemented.

● Employ qualified personnel and ensure adequate staff education and ongoing timely evaluations as directed by Administrator and for employees Alternate Administrator supervises.

● Serve as a role model and holds employees accountable in demonstrating the mission and values of the organization.

● Model teamwork behaviors needed to facilitate removal of intra and inter-departmental barriers for achievement of goals.

● Lead by empowering others to accomplish their job responsibilities.

● Assist Administrator to coordinate development, administration and evaluation of Agency goals and objectives that are consistent with strategic plan as requested.

● Provide input to Administrator in the budgeting and accounting system for the Agency as requested.

● Assist Administrator to with accountability for effective fiscal management of the Agency and empower and hold team members to the same accountability.

● Eliminate waste within the Agency and empower team members to do the same.

● Remove barriers that impede service to the customer across and within the Agency.

● Support a culture of positive team work supportive of new ideas and the change process.

● Assist Administrator to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations governing home health care services.

● Ensure surveyors are provided with requested information as appropriate to ensure the best survey results as possible.

● Provide leadership in developing and maintaining data collection, recording and reporting systems to ensure proper service, uniform accounting data collection and measurement of outcomes as requested.

● Participate in establishing and maintaining public relations and community education programs that increase the public’s understanding of home care as requested.

● Assist the Administrator to ensure the accuracy of public information materials and activities.

● Prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors on Agency services, progress, growth and operations as requested by Administrator.

● Assist Administrator to ensure that the agency has an ongoing Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program designed to objectively and systematically monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care, resolve identified problems and improve patient care.

● Evaluate outcomes for quality improvement interventions and provide written reports as required and as requested by Administrator.

● Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement.

● Work with staff to develop corrective action plans as needed for supervised employees.

● Develop and contribute to policy and procedures, manuals, in-services, and attend and lead/provide information to meetings, committees and work groups as necessary as requested.

● Interview/hire management team members who have direct reporting relationship.

● Assist supervisory staff in recruitment, hiring, supervising and provision of disciplinary action or termination of assigned staff.

● Supervise and evaluate performance of assigned staff members.

● Provide oversight to ensure adequate staffing within assigned areas of responsibility.

● Lead and participate in appropriate agency committees as requested.

● Encourage staff development through in-service education, mentoring, networking and other staff development techniques.

● Must maintain confidentiality.

● Evaluate own professional needs and provide suggestions to meet those needs.


● Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly.

● Must have visual, hearing and mental ability to initiate and comprehend written and verbal communication.

● Must be willing to be responsible for and maintain job-related supplies and equipment according to Agency policy and expectations.

● Must be able to operate/acquire the skills to operate office communication equipment and software systems.

● Must be able to access files and documents from file cabinets.

● Must be able to perform tasks involving some physical activity such as light lifting, some bending, stooping and standing.

● Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as keyboarding on assigned computer systems.


● Must be able to function in a stressful environment and meet deadlines as requested.

● Must accept responsibility for on-call as needed by the Agency and be available 24 hours/day.

Job Requirements


  • Health care professional who has at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience in health service or any other individual who has at least one (1) year of experience in health service administration or health service finance.      
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, health service administration, business administration or equivalent experience, or related field preferred.
  • Registered Nursing License in Indiana with no disciplinary actions.
